Shelburne County Community & Business Excellence Awards

Economic development partners in Shelburne County are pleased to confirm the return ofThe Shelburne County Community & Business Excellence Awards. This event will recognize businesses and community organizations committed to excellence in exporting, innovation and community leadership. It will take place on October 20, 2015 at 6pm at the picturesque Sandy Point Lighthouse Community Centre. The event will also feature a keynote address from Don Bureaux, President of the Nova Scotia Community College, a dinner, recognition of the finalists for the awards of excellence, and an awards ceremony to honor the winners.

Nominations will be accepted until noon on September 22nd for three awards:

  • Exporter of the Year will recognize a business that has demonstrated excellence in exporting outside of Canada, has achieved   noticeable growth as a result of entering the global marketplace, and has made a significant contribution to the growth of Shelburne County’s economy.
  • Innovation in Business will recognize a business that has demonstrated innovative leadership through the use of technology, the development of new or value added products and services, improved productivity, and/or gained a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
  • Excellence in Community Development will recognize a community organization or social enterprise that has made significant and notable contributions to their community (cultural, social, environmental and/or economic) and that serves as a catalyst for positive action, exhibiting the highest standards of leadership.

The winner of the Exporter of the Year Award will be recognized at the Nova Scotia Export Achievement Awards luncheon in Halifax in the Spring of 2016 where Nova Scotia companies, partners and industry professionals will come together to celebrate exporting success. At this event, one of the companies will be awarded the prestigious title of Nova Scotia Exporter of the Year.

Nominating is easy, so please take a moment to fill out the attached form and let us know about a business or organization that has made a difference in Shelburne County. Thedeadline for submissions is 12 noon on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.
