Public Notice

The Public Washrooms on Dock Street, and the outdoor tap there, will be closing today for the winter due to the especially cold forecast tonight

At its regular meeting on November 2nd, 2016 the Shelburne Town Council considered a report provided by Town staff, presenting the results of recent public consultations regarding off-highway vehicles.  Consultations were conducted in late October and were very well attended; the Council received significant feedback from residents. Residents pointed to opportunities associated with developing a sanctioned off-highway vehicle route through the community, but also raised many concerns about OHV use which would have to be addressed before any such route was approved. Council heard residents' concerns and has directed staff to develop specific costed proposals for one or more potential OHV route options - taking into consideration the public feedback received - to be presented to Council and for further public consideration.

Remembrance Day Ceremony

The annual Remembrance Day Service will be held this year at the Shelburne Fire Hall Auditorium at 11am on Friday November 11th. There will be a brief parade from the Atlantic House Park to the Fire Hall prior to the service.  Parade starts at 10:30.

Water Update

The hose at the Fire Hall/Community Centre and the tap at the Guild Hall are still available for residents with water issues until November 10th. We would like to thank all of the volunteers/community members who helped residents with water shortages during the drought and a special thank you to Ralph Swansburg for delivering water to Seniors.

Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat will be taking place at the Fire Hall / Community Centre tonight starting at 6pm.  Happy Halloween!

In accordance with the By-laws of the Town of Shelburne, NO HUNTING by gun, air rifle, bow and arrow or firearm of any kind is permitted within the boundaries of the Town (as depicted on the map shown here).

Christmas Tree Donation Needed

Each year the Town of Shelburne donates a Christmas Tree to the residents of our sister city, Gloucester, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Trees are cut by the Town’s Public Works Department and City of Gloucester staff travel to Shelburne each November to collect the tree. The Town is now in the process of selecting a tree to cut; if you have a suitable tree on your property and are interested in keeping this Christmas tradition alive, please contact the Town Office at 902-875-2991.

Notice to Residents

The Shelburne Town Dump located on the Morvan Road no longer accepts white metals. Residents may bring brush and yard waste to the dump on Saturdays as usual.  For information on Waste Management, visit

Notice of Public Consultation

A Public Session will be held on Tuesday October 25th at 7:00 pm, to initiate a conversation with residents about the usage of Off-Highway Vehicles in town and on our trails. Off-Highway Vehicles are currently not permitted within Town limits, however with the development of the Shelburne Harbour Trail in cooperation with the Municipality of Shelburne and other provincial initiatives connecting separate trail routes throughout Nova Scotia, the Town is considering changes to our current trail system and the rules governing Off-Highway Vehicle Use.
